What inspires you as an artist? Are there specific themes or subjects that you find yourself drawn to?:
Life experiences inspire me as an artist. Recently, i read that the Maasai communities are being evicted out of their own land at the Kenya-Tanzania border, and it reminded me of what we went through during the 2007/08 post election violence. So i decided to advocate for these communities , creating awareness through art and making it a series. (Collection of paintings with one theme)
What do you hope to communicate or evoke through your art? Is there a specific message or emotion that you strive to convey to your audience?
Im trying to communicate through the eyes of each subjects, the enormous size of each painting (150by 100cm or 100by 100cm) , majestic size of potraits, which really demands attention when my paintings are in exhibitions. They demand for help, when you look into their emotional eyes as none of my artpieces are happy.
Are there any particular artists or art movements that have influenced your work? How have they shaped your artistic perspective?
Patrick Mukabi inspired me when it comes to big paintings that I see them at Javas. Leornardo and Michelangelo love for anatomy also inspired me as well.
How do you handle criticism or feedback on your artwork? How do you use it to grow and improve as an artist?
I know that no matter how good your art is, it will always create criricism whether one like it or not. So one thing i do tell an upcoming artist is to do what they want to do.
Are there any specific goals or aspirations you have for your artistic career? How do you plan to pursue them?
My goal is to do a solo exhibiton at a big art gallery like Alliance Francaise, and help these people whenever someone buys my art.
